ABOUT AMELIE
Hi I am Amelie,
I graduated last year and started my design career at Slash Creative Studio, bringing 2 years of hands-on experience to my work. My love for fashion started young and step-by-step grew into a deeper understanding of fashion and design.
I have always been drawn to expressing ideas visually. Fashion is not just about clothing — it's about translating thoughts, emotions and concepts into something tangible. As a fashion designer, I create commercial, cohesive collections that feel authentic to a brand's identity.
Precision and empathy are at the core of how I work. I think good design starts with listening: understanding what a brand stands for and what it wants to say. I've been part of several collaborations building brand identities - for new clients and for ourselves - and that experience taught me how to read a brand’s identity and let it guide every design decision.
How I Get Under a Brand's Skin
When I start working with a brand, I begin with feeling before thinking. I'll visit the store, walk around, talk to a few people working there — looking at how the clothes are made, what fabrics and colours I'm seeing and touching. That first impression tells me a lot.
Then I go deeper: I read into the brand's history, go through their archief, their identity, the target audience, and even the small details like which typefaces they use.
Things like what kind of message do you want to bring to a customer, and was that message the same as what I got in the store. And when I start working on moodboards, trend researches and making the final collection you will see that the branding comes through clearly and shows a coherent collection.
Why Fashion?
Translating an identity and then bringing it to life visually is incredibly interesting to me. You convey a feeling or an atmosphere through a piece of clothing. And then to see how people interpret that feeling or atmosphere for themselves and use it to create their own creative look.
When you design fashion, what might be an everyday piece for one person could be a bold statement for another person. And to create fashion like that where it allows people to make it their own experience and style is so fascinating to me. I love seeing people who truly embrace their own style and do their own thing, even beyond trends and public opinion.
And, of course, the creative process itself—constantly challenging myself and searching for ways to express myself, or helping others go through that process.
